Backend services, CLI tooling
About
A statically typed, compiled language designed at Google. Emphasizes simplicity, performance, and concurrency — compiles to a single binary with no runtime dependencies, uses goroutines for lightweight concurrent execution.
Why
Needed something compiled and fast for the update microservice. Go builds to a single binary, starts instantly, uses almost no memory.
Notes
The single binary output is the thing I keep coming back to. A tool that compiles to one file with no runtime dependencies just feels right for software people install and forget about.
explicit error handling as return values instead of exceptions makes the code predictable in a way I appreciate. goroutines make concurrency straightforward. Not an expert, but enough to ship.
