Why

Needed realtime data sync and OAuth login without spinning up a backend. Firebase handled both in an afternoon — no infrastructure thinking required.

Notes

Firestore with real-time listeners listeners is genuinely impressive for prototypes — realtime sync across clients with almost no code.

But Firestore's querying hits walls fast. The moment you need a join or a complex filter you start working around the database instead of with it. For anything serious, PostgreSQL.
